Hi there! The holidays have really snuck up on a lot of us this year, so here's a list of winter/holiday themed activities that you can do at your virtual holiday party that don't require a lot of preparation.
- Paper Snowflakes: Super easy, and all you need is scissors and paper. You could make it an upcycling craft by using old newspaper
- 3D Paper Snowflakes: I learned how to make these in Brownies and I still love making them. All you need is paper, scissors, and tape or a stapler. Like the paper snowflakes, you could use old newspapers as well
- Have a pajama party! Everyone could show off their favourite pajamas/comfy clothes and introduce their favourite stuffed animal
- Make decorations for new years eve, You could use these printable new year party hats or just make your own decorations with whatever supplies you have on hand. While you make them you can talk about your wishes for the new year
- Winter bingo: This card in particular has a lot of winter clothes on it, so you could work in a discussion about how to dress properly for playing outside
- Everyone could bring their favourite warm drink and show the group their favourite mug
- Use skribbl.io to play winter pictionary (or any theme for that matter). You can do this by creating a private game room and inputting the words you would like to use
- Have a movie night! You can use Netflix Party, or just share your screen and play the movie in whatever video conferencing service you normally use. Here's how to do this on Zoom
- Play Kahoot! You could play a winter-themed Kahoot, or use it as a fun way to learn about winter celebrations in different cultures
- Have everyone bring something that represents a holiday that their family celebrates (not necessarily in December), and share why it is special to them
- Have a talent show! Give each girl two minutes to perform or share something that she is proud of. When my unit did this we had some piano, singing, artwork, a robot demonstration, and a gymnastics routine
That's all I can think of for now, hopefully this will help you figure out what to do for your last meeting of 2020!
