I'm a Spark/Ember activity sheets

Hi everyone! I'm back with another activity sheet for Sparks and Embers. This would be a great activity when preparing for enrollment, or learning about your branch.  I'm a Spark! activity sheet Je suis une Spark! activity sheet I'm an Ember! activity sheet Je suis une Ember! activity sheet

Girl Guide Word Searches

I'm back with some more resources, this time some word searches. I've created a simple version and an advanced version (the advanced version has more words), and they are both available in English and French. Girl Guide Colouring Pages

Here are some colouring pages that I made based on the new GGC clipart. There are four different designs, all in one file for easy downloading.  GGC Colouring Pages Disclaimer: The images that these are based off are owned by Girl Guides of Canada, I just traced them to turn them into colouring pages for personal/Unit use.

Promise Posters

With Brownies being renamed to Embers, I anticipate that a lot of Ember Units will be looking for new resources with the new promise, law, and branch name. I've made these promise posters, which would make a great aid for teaching the promise, law and motto. I made one for each branch, in English and French. The font size is quite large, so they can be printed as a full page, or multiple per page to be a more convenient size. Brownie Promise Scavenger Hunt

So far this year we've been doing a mix of online and outdoor meetings. Usually once the Brownies had learned the promise and law, we would do a promise and law relay race. It's simple, and it uses visuals to help reinforce what they've already learned. This year we needed something to do online, and one of my Guiders came up with a promise and law scavenger hunt. It works pretty much the same way as any other online scavenger hunt. A Guider reads out an item from the list and the girls have a specified amount of time (we said one minute) to find the item. Once everyone has found their item, you could discuss what everyone chose. Item list: I promise: something that represents a promise, or something that you would make a promise on To do my best: something that represents your best To be true to myself: something that makes you unique My beliefs: something that represents your beliefs/values And Canada: something that represents Canada I will take action for a better world...

We're Back! Week 2: Promise and Law

Hey everyone! After a bizarre back-to-school season, we're back to our weekly meetings. The first week was the usual getting to know all of the new Brownies, and also getting used to the new Covid precautions. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there that week, but apparently everything went smoothly. This week the weather was cool and rainy so we decided to move our meeting online. We took this as an opportunity to introduce the Brownie Promise and Law. We used the promise and law mini books from owl-and-toadstool.blogspot.com , and discussed what we thought each line meant. And then we gave the girls some time to colour while we talked about how school has been for them so far.

Guiding Year Time Capsule

Here is a time capsule activity sheet that the girls in your unit can fill out at the beginning of the year. You can use this as a get-to-know-you activity, and as a way to get the girls in your unit thinking about what they want to do this year. It is not specific to any branch, but would probably work best for Sparks, Brownies and Guides. Once they've filled it out, have them put it someplace safe. At the end of the year they can look at it again and see what has changed. Guiding Year Time Capsule activity sheet

Virtual Advancement Ceremony

This week we had our advancement. We pretty much did what we would normally do during a regular ceremony, except that it was all online.   Time  Activity  Materials 7 pm Welcome, opening   7:10 pm The ceremony: Year pins: we did the year pins first. A Guider read the list of names and a family member pinned the pin on their Brownie's uniform. Brownie Advancement pins: A Guider read the names of the advancing Brownies, and a family member pinned the pin on their Brownies uniform. Pins/badges dropped off in advance, or printed versions as stand-ins. 7:20 pm   Campfire Google Slides/PowerPoint presentation with the lyrics. My co-Guider had dropped off packages with craft supplies and all of their badges and pins. She also included a paper headband cover, for each girl that said "Brownie" on it, and the advancing Brownies got Guide ones as well. Once they had received their advancement pins, they switched their Brownie headband for their Guide headban...
