WAGGGS IDG Challenge: Hear Me Now

Every year WAGGGS creates a challenge for the International Day of the Girl, and this year the theme is Hear Me Now. There is a challenge booklet to complete with your unit, which you can find here: Hear Me Now - IDG 2020, as well as a social media campaign.

Normally I don't post until after a meeting, but since IDG is coming up I figured that I would share my plans now. Specifically a template for the hero emblem activity. The instructions say to have the girl draw a shield and fill it in as per the instructions, but for virtual or anytime Guiding it might be easier for the girls to have a pre-made template. In the fourth quadrant there is space for the girls to write their personal pledge. Even if you aren't doing the challenge, you could use it as a stand-alone activity in the Being You or Your Choice themes.

Welcome and Opening

7:15 pm

“Girl On A Mission” guided meditation

[My Mighty Mind]

Have everyone sit in a comfortable place,

and have a Guider or Girl Assistant read

the script from the challenge pack.

7:25 pm

My Personal Hero Emblem

[Being You]

Have everyone print the template in advance, or just

draw a shield on a piece of paper. I’m planning to have

a discussion about what some of the words

mean as we colour our shields in.

7:45 pm

My Personal Pledge

[Your Choice]

I’m hoping this activity will lead to a discussion

about how making a change in our community

doesn’t have to be a large action, but it can also

be a bunch of small, everyday tasks.

7:55 pm

Closing and goodbye

Girl Guide Colouring Pages

Here are some colouring pages that I made based on the new GGC clipart. There are four different designs, all in one file for easy downloading.  GGC Colouring Pages Disclaimer: The images that these are based off are owned by Girl Guides of Canada, I just traced them to turn them into colouring pages for personal/Unit use.

Promise Posters

With Brownies being renamed to Embers, I anticipate that a lot of Ember Units will be looking for new resources with the new promise, law, and branch name. I've made these promise posters, which would make a great aid for teaching the promise, law and motto. I made one for each branch, in English and French. The font size is quite large, so they can be printed as a full page, or multiple per page to be a more convenient size. About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Elizabeth, and I've been a member of Girl Guides of Canada for 13 years. I started in Brownies (now called Embers) and went all the way to Rangers, as well as volunteering as a Girl Assistant with an Ember Unit for six years. I am currently in Link, as well as volunteering as a Brand Ambassador. I created this blog to share all the resources and meeting plans I made for online meetings while we could not meet in-person due to Covid-19. I am not currently a Guider, but I do still update this blog occasionally when I think of something new. I am currently in university, and I hope to become a Guider once I've got some more free time. If you'd like to see more from me, check out my TikTok . Quick disclaimer: This is my personal blog. It is not an official Girl Guides of Canada source.
